On the 4th of July, history is happening right here in Blair County. Hundreds (Maybe 1000+) of runners and walkers will hit the pavement for the annual Angie Gioiosa Memorial Race, and because we are celebrating America’s massive 250th Semiquincentennial birthday, the energy, the patriotism, and the crowd are going to be unforgettable.
An algorithm can’t capture the raw emotion of a runner hitting their stride, the split-second high-five between a volunteer and a child, or the proud tears at the finish line. Only a real artist behind a camera can do that.
The Blair Regional YMCA is looking for talented Volunteer Photographers to join our media team for the morning and help us document this monumental community milestone!
What we are looking for:
🏃♂️ Action Shutterbugs: Experience with fast-moving sports, racing, or outdoor event photography.
👀 The Storytellers: An eye for capturing those candid, emotional, multi-generational family moments that make our race so special.
⚙️ The Gear: Your own DSLR/mirrorless setup capable of crisp action shots in morning daylight.
Whether you are a seasoned local professional looking to give back to a 175-year-old Blair County tradition, an advanced hobbyist wanting to sharpen your sports portfolio, or a student looking for high-profile event experience—we want you behind the lens!

We see it every single day on Hewitt Street. We see it in the dads who wake up early to shoot hoops with their kids before work. We see it in the grandfathers splashing with their grandkids during family swim, passing down a love for the water. We see it in the stepdads, uncles, and family friends cheering from the very top row of the bleachers at Biddy Basketball.
But today, we also want to celebrate the incredible father figures who make the Y a second home for so many local kids.
Our volunteer coaches who teach character on the court, our staff mentors who offer a steady hand of guidance, and the neighbors who show up just to root for a kid who needs an extra fan in their corner—you are filling a vital role in building a stronger Blair County.

Kids thrive when they have a target to shoot for. This summer, sit down with your child and help them set a "Summer Growth Goal." It could be learning how to swim a full lap without stopping, mastering a new skill in our youth sports leagues, or even completing a massive fitness milestone like our upcoming Youth Triathlon on August 5th!
